Walborg Heikinen birth date and parents

Viesti Kirjoittaja Katie » 21.10.2012 03:15

I believe I found an ancestor, Walborg Heikinen, in Sukihistoria.fi. The only information I had to research her was that she was born aproximately 1785 but I did not find her name in 1785 nor 1786 but I did find an entry in 1784. It shows a birth/christened date of September 03 and 28 (I assume birth is 03 Sept, Christened 28 Sept). She and her husband lived in the Lendua, Kuhmo area and had 2 children in the area. Can you review the names of the parents in this entry. The only reason I think this may be the Walborg I am looking for is I found the name Heikitar in the entry. I hope it's her.
Thank You
Janice

Her last name is Sutitar (from her father's last name, Sutinen). Maria Heikitär is one of the god parents.

I take it you're looking for the Walborg that married Simon Keränen (formerly Vall)? The marriage records tells us she's form Lentua number 25 and there her birth date is 6 MAY 1785. It also lists her mom, Walborg Kyllönen and brother, Johan Heikkinen. In the Paltamo births you can find:
1.5.1785 22.6.1785 Wuocki Johan Heickinen Walb. Kyllötär 34 Walborg

As well as:
22.3.1775 2.4.1775 Wuocki Johan Heickinen Walb. Kyllötär 24 Johan

So I am fairly certain this is the Walborg you're looking for. Vuokki number 25 can be found in the Paltamo books first, then Suomussalmi. The family moves from Suomussalmi in the 1810-1816 book (can't make out the last digit, could be 1811). They can be found in Lentua starting 1813.

Hello, Jani
Aren't you the super sleuth!!! I was able to find some information tfor Walborg via her husband and their marriage record but I was unable to track down her parents. This is great news and once again I have another mystery solved, or should I say, you have solved another mystery for me.
Thanks again
Janice

Glad I could help. :)

It was a nice break from my own research, which at the moment consists of going through hundreds of pages to find a single person only to have to go through the same pages again in the next book (missing or false moving notations)... I'm not that familar with the Kainuu books, but I guess I got lucky, it was fairly easy to find the correct family. Just make sure that you have the right couple in Paltamo, there's another Johan Heikkinen in Vuokki, his wife is Elin Kinnutar. They even have children with same names and birth years. Very confusing for someone who is used to dealing with church books from Western Finland with patronyms instead of last names...

Hello, Jani
I hear you about the research. I have gone through so many pages in Sukuhistoria looking for someone and checked a 2nd and 3rd time. It can be frustrating because if you find name I find I'm thinking of a way to verify it and that's the mind numbing part. Then I call on you and your troops. I did find that 2nd family that was very familiar, but the name is Elin Kinnutar. Made me wonder what I was looking at because some names change from a tar to a nen. That's to be expected, I find the same thing in the American records and look confused over them too.
Thanks again for your help. Hope you find what you need to and have a nice week. I'm retired (2009) so I have the opportunity to research my father's family, the Kahkönen family, this coming winter. You'll be hearing from me.
Janice
