Translate Brita and Anders Marriage Entry

Viesti Kirjoittaja Katie » 30.12.2017 03:51

http://www.sukuhistoria.fi/sshy/sivut_e ... 36&pnum=52

Above link is the marriage entry for Brita Pardanen and Anders Hurskainen on 18Oct1812 in Sotkamo, Oulu. The entry is on the left page 6th from the bottom.
Above each line is what I think is the number of the entry and their's is entry No 15 BUT what does 19 mean that is next to the 15 with only 2 names written. And in the right hand column is the number 36 what does that mean?
Thank You for your help

The number 36 gives the sum the couple paid for the minister. You can see it varies, crofters paid less than farmers.

I have no idea what the other number (19) means. That number also varies (more :-)).

Thank you Tuula, that mystery is solved. I wonder what the 36, or 48 charge would calculate to in today's money.
Happy New Year

The charges were 0.24, 0.36 and 0.48 silver rubles.
Some sources tell that silver ruble was about 3.5 paper rubles That'll make 0.84, 1.26 and 1.68 paper rubles.
http://apps.rahamuseo.fi/rahanarvolaskin#FIN converts from paper rubles to euros.
0.84 paper rubles = €5.04
1.26 paper rubles = €7.56
1.68 paper rubles = €10.08
You may convert euros further...

If that's 1812 conversion that's probably a lot but maybe not based on cost of living then. Today we would pay 100.00-200.00 US dollars or 80 - 160 Euros. Not based on occupation but where you live and I would think it is within the average cost of living for services. Just goes to show, no matter what era you live in, it's always expensive for some things.
